I think your just what I needed

"At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him."
Mark 1:12-13

Maybe we need a great depression. The grim reality that corporations can cause a financial collapse that can effect the global wold market should have everyone thinking we need to reorganize the fundamental structure of the US economy. The injection of democracy into our market might be what is called for. By that representatives should be elected directly by the people to oversee and review markets. But no one in either party is willing to allow this. A depression will cause mass unemployment, bringing the reality that: lack of participation in democracy is foolish. And it shows that corporations, wall st., main st and global markets are so interconnected that they don't fail or succeed with out impact on one another. Maybe, just maybe we can recognize that blame for this crisis rest on everyone's shoulders. While political talking heads for the Democrats and Republican point to various bills and regulations they opposed or approved as the real reason for the problem, we lose sight of the fact that: growing influence of massive corporation has been allowed by majority of the American people. It has not happen over night. Not that the corporation itself is an evil beast, but with more power comes more corruption. Without consumer activism that is effective and public outcry that is substantial, international corporations go unchallenged. The theory of "free market" is only effective with a fully informed consumer. It is not up to the corporation to inform consumers, it is up to the consumer to inform themselves. That is why a great depression maybe the biggest rallying cry for people to pay attention to big business.
